Signs your screen needs replacing (not just cleaning)
Not every mark is a crack — but some are. Here's how to tell the difference, and when it's time to get it sorted.
A smudge and a crack can look surprisingly similar at first glance, especially on a phone you've been staring at all day. But there are a few clear signs that what you're dealing with is more than just a dirty screen.
If you can feel a ridge or sharp edge when you run your finger across the screen, that's a crack. Even a hairline crack can worsen quickly — especially if moisture gets in.
Dead pixels, dark patches, or lines running across the display are signs that the LCD or OLED panel beneath the glass has been damaged. This won't fix itself, and it tends to spread.
Touch responsiveness issues — where the screen doesn't register your taps accurately, or stops responding in certain areas — are another sign the display needs attention.
The good news is that screen replacements are one of the most common repairs we do, and most are completed within the hour. If you're unsure, get in touch and we'll take a look.
