Is it your charger or your charging port? How to tell
Before you buy a new cable, check whether the problem is actually your phone. Here's a quick way to find out.
Charging problems are frustrating — and they're not always caused by what you think. Before you replace your cable or charger, it's worth doing a quick check to find out where the issue actually lies.
Try a different cable and charger first. If your phone charges fine with a different set, the problem is your accessories, not your phone. Simple.
If the problem persists with multiple cables, look closely at the charging port. Lint and debris build up in there over time — especially in pockets — and can prevent a proper connection. A gentle clean with a dry toothpick can sometimes solve the problem entirely.
If the cable feels loose, or you have to hold it at a specific angle to charge, the port itself is likely worn or damaged. This is a very common repair and usually takes under 30 minutes.
Charging port repairs are one of our most popular fixes — and one of the most satisfying, because the difference is immediate. If you're struggling to charge, get in touch and we'll sort it.
